ERNIE CHAN
John Carter, Warlord of Mars Annual #2, Page 25. I had this 1978 Marvel Comics page signed and dated in the image area by Ernie in 1982. Impressive two panel layout with large images of Tal Tartag, Ras Thavas and aliens. Great brushwork on the inks.

FRANK CIROCCO / TERRY AUSTIN
Alien Legion Marvel/Epic Comics First Promotional Ad. This was the first published piece of Alien Legion artwork, with 4 of the 5 "Legionnaires" shown ending up as lead characters in the series. This original was the 1983 in-house Epic/Marvel ad for the comic book series that appeared on the back covers of many Epic comics. It was also issued as a promotional poster for comic book shops. Pencils by Frank Cirocco, inks by Terry Austin and hand colored by Frank Cirocco (in a color scheme much more appealing than the published version, which is shown on the image page). It is signed by both in the image area with Frank's "FC" monogram and Terry's stylized last name. The image size is a large 15 x 20 inches. The logo (designed by Walt Simonson), credits and "Marvel Makes The Magic!" tag are stats with the "The" and "Legion" in the logo colored in gold ink by Frank. The original comes nicely double matted (black with blue inner border, acid free, 19.5 x 24.5 inches) and is ready to be framed and hung on the wall. A beautiful and historically significant piece.

FRANK KELLY FREAS
"Willow Song" paperback book cover study. Kelly's "KF" initials are in the bottom left corner of the image. Painted with acrylic in 1974 for the book by Richard Amory. The 5 x 7 inch image shows two tree people and a human. Kelly said his son was used as the model for the human figure. Sadly, Kelly died on 2 January 2005. I've included a copy of the final cover artwork with the study on the image page. If you like, I will send you a high resolution 400 dpi scan of the cover when you buy this original.

FRANK KELLY FREAS
Illustrated 8.5 x 11 inch manuscript with three additional drawings signed and dated 1977 by Freas. This manuscript is Kelly's working copy of the first 95 pages of L. Sprague de Camp's "Heretic in a Balloon," first published in Isaac Asimov's SF Magazine, Winter 1977. It was later published without illustrations as a paperback under the title "The Great Fetish," which I will include with these originals. On the photocopied pages (complete with de Camp's strikeouts and corrections!), Kelly drew, in black, red and green ink, 7 sketches and 8 preliminaries on 15 pages. Two preliminaries were tight enough for him to sign. Also included are 3 additional signed (full signatures) and dated drawings done for this story on tracing paper. Please note that one of these additional pieces is signed to me and one is done in pencil (both shown on the image page). All 95 pages of this manuscript are protected under plastic covers. You get a total of 18 original artwork drawings in this Science Fiction collector's dream item from two multi-Hugo Award winners!

STEVE GAN
Marvel Preview Magazine #4, Page 37. Slightly oversized Marvel magazine page from the historically significant 1975 origin issue of Star-Lord. He appears in every panel on this page! Gan has nicely combined his cross hatch inking with gray wash effects. The dialog is on a separate overlay (also provided), so the page is pure artwork, which will make the images that much more impressive when matted and framed.

DICK GIORDANO
Huge, 21 x 26 inch, signed, head shot of what Dick calls a "Giordano Babe" done with bold and fine markers on heavy illustration board. The fine marker lines are showing some color fade from black to brown. This original was drawn in the late 1970s, as part of a "chalk talk" Dick gave at a convention. This striking piece has been acid free matted up to 27 x 32 inches and is ready to frame.

THE HERCULOIDS HANNA-BARBERA ANIMATION PRODUCTION CELS
Two-cel production setup of Igoo and a water ripple, Scene 104 with effect 104A, from the 1981 Herculoids TV series. The characters in this series were all designed by Alex Toth. The leaping Igoo cel also comes with the original pencil. Both cels and the pencil are untrimmed! The Igoo image is 3 x 3 inches, which when combined with the effects cel brings the whole image to approximately 5 x 8 inches. (NOTE: I've recently seen a number of Herculoids cels from the 1981 series advertised as being from the 1960s. Please be aware that even legitimate galleries have people who don't know a thing about animation history writing their ad copy. It's a shame, but I'm seeing more and more of it.)

ALAN KUPPERBERG
Howard The Duck daily newspaper strip from April 25, 1978. Signed and dated in the strip. Written by Marv Wolfman. Size is approximately 6 x 17 inches. Howard and Bev appear in every panel. The header appears at the bottom of the daily, which is unusual. Nice piece for both the Marvel/Howard collector or if your birthday happens to fall on April 25th.

VAL MAYERIK / JOE RUBINSTEIN
Vampirella #79, Page 22. This slightly oversized Warren magazine page, published in 1979, was pencilled by Val and inked by Joe. Rubinstein's delicate line work is lost my image reproduction, but this original is absolutely gorgeous. The page shows a maiden being stalked by giant lizards. If you have the issue, you know the "twist" ending on the story. Warren originals are getting tougher to locate.

JOSEPH MUSSO
"The Towering Inferno" Special Effects Storyboards. Five huge 20 x 27 inch (mounted on 30 x 40 inch crescent board), Color Pre-Production Storyboards that depict special effects scenes with the tower miniatures. Drawn in 1973, with color fast markers (no loss of color intensity over the years), these 5 pieces show camera placements, shot angles and provide an inside look into the effects world of one of the 1970s classic Irwin Allen disaster films. As provenance, these originals were all published in "The Great Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Horror Movie Memorabilia Book, Volume One" on pages 94 and 108. Joe Musso has been a film production illustrator for a few decades now. Other genre pictures I know he's worked on include "Laserblast," "Flesh Gordon," "End Of The World," "Megaforce," "Star Trek: First Contact," "Space Cowboys," "Escape From L.A.," "Dick Tracy," "Volcano," "Dragonheart," "Basic Instinct," "Ladder 49," "The Hulk," "Sheena," "The Swarm," "Beyond The Poseidon Adventure," "Phantasm II," "When Time Ran Out," and "Stealth." His latest illustration work was for "Flags Of Our Fathers."

BOARD #1 - Scene C-9: Depicts the helicopter roof landing, at the film's beginning, that was eventually removed from the final print of the movie. This superb board shows a golden tower with the camera crane's angle down on it and the surrounding San Francisco structures. Color illustrations show the before and after process shots of the golden tower model added into the live action aerial shot of downtown San Francisco. Three color inserts give the helicopter pilots perspective on the landing. Finally, the camera operators illustration shows how the glass matte opticals will be shot. See artwork  $725
BOARD #2 - Scenes 137, 463, 466: Depicts the descending exterior elevator and explosion that dislodges it from the tower. The main image of the tower structure is illustrated as being shot by two crane and one platform cameras. Five color insert illustrations show the elevator descent and destruction. Special effects aficionados will enjoy reading L. B. Abbott's suggestions actually listed on this board! See artwork  $725
BOARD #3 - Scene 468: Depicts Lisolette's (Jennifer Jones) fall out of the elevator off the tower. The least detailed of the five boards, this still shows the large main image of the tower structure with crane and platform camera angles illustrated. Two color insert illustrations, one quite large, show the action of the Lisolette's fall from different angles in the scene. See artwork  $525
BOARD #4 - Scenes 488, A491, 502A, 505, 507, 544: Depicts the helicopter rescue of the elevator from the Peerless building to the glass tower. In addition to the main image of the tower structure, this board also shows the roof of the Peerless building. Drawn in one sequential image is the helicopters flight from the Peerless building to the exterior tower elevator. Five color inserts illustrate the sequence from different camera angles. This scene provided Steve McQueen's first big heroic moment in the film. See artwork  $700
BOARD #5 - Scenes 490, 546, 584, 586: Depicts various explosions on the exterior of the tower. The main tower image is engulfed in colorful explosions from various moments in the film. Key camera placements are on a crane and from ground level. Six color inserts illustrate the action from various angles. See artwork  $675

BOB OKSNER / VINCE COLLETTA with GEORGE TUSKA
Vixen #1, Pages 16 - 20. Published in 1978 in the exceptionally rare second issue of DC's Cancelled Comics Cavalcade. Vixen appears on every page in an action sequence stretched over five slightly oversized pages. Oksner and Colletta are officially credited as the artists on the story. However, Tuska obviously had a helping hand doing touch-ups by redrawing faces on this one. Margin notes indicate that the character was originally to be called "Blue Fox." Great set of pages for the DC historian or a fan of DC heroines.

TRINA ROBBINS
(A) Large, 4-tiered, 16 x 22 inch "Street Fightin' Woman" strip. Published in Hi-Life Magazine in 1979. Signed by Trina and dated 1979 just below the artwork. Great gag about women's clothing from the premier female underground cartoonist. This original does contain profanity, so be aware that it may not suit everyone's taste.

SONNY TRINIDAD
An unpublished 26 page story, entitled "Call of Dracula," done in 1978 for a Marvel Monster Magazine, probably "Dracula Lives." And who knows, at this point, Marvel may have published this inventory story someplace. In any case, Sonny's absolutely beautiful work is done in ink and wash tones on these slightly oversized magazine pages numbered from 4 to 29. Dracula appears prominently throughout the story. Creative panel layouts are used in this tale and are apparent in the two sample pages I've posted. Included in this story are two nice splash pages used as chapter headers. One splash is a great shot of Dracula "feeding" on a female victim.

DAVID WEISMAN
"Kentucky Fried Movie" One-Sheet Movie Poster Study. This color study was done in 1977 for the second movie poster ad campaign of the John Landis comedy classic. Jim Abrahams and Jerry & David Zucker also worked on this film. The large colorfast marker image (no loss of color intensity over the years) is drawn on 14 x 24 inch thin white paper and is mounted on 20 x 29 inch black crescent board. There are two small light tan droplet stains in the lower left white border. The artwork depicts a monster hatching from an egg with the tag, "There's Nothing Chicken About..." Below this is a hand-lettered logo and some hand-lettered screen credits. As provenance, this original was published in "The Great Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Horror Movie Memorabilia Book, Volume One" on page 91. David has also done film production illustrations for "Dark Star," "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" and "Cheech & Chong's Next Movie." The final version of this movie poster was eventually painted by John Dearstyne and the central monster image was used in European and Scandinavian poster releases. You can also see the completed artwork on the Chapter Selections insert card in the DVD release.

S. CLAY WILSON
Both of these are
very detailed 7 x 5 inch pen and ink with watercolor originals, done by one of the masters of underground cartooning. Clay called these "Kinky Vignettes." Both are signed and dated 1981 in the images. For those of you concerned about the media used, the color intensity on both of these hasn't changed one iota in 27 years.  I've seen galleries asking $2,000 for similar pieces, so I've priced these quite reasonably. To see uncensored versions of the images, simply send an e-mail request for them with a statement that you are 18 or older.

(A) #1
"Odious Mutant Gobbling a Space-Chick." Finely detailed pen and ink work with superb blending of colors. The odious mutant has devoured part of the "space chick's" clothing in the original, which is censored in the posted scan. A raygun, a B.E.M. and a curvy gal - all the elements of '50s Sci-Fi pulp action! The original is dated 10/1/81 and signed. See artwork  $825

(A) #2 "The Checkered Demon Squats and Gobbles a Big Blonde Box Lunch." Clay's classic underground comix character doing what comes naturally for him with a nude blonde. Incredible detail, even down to the rum bottle label. Unfortunately, the posted piece had to be severely censored, but it doesn't take much imagination to know what's going on from the title. The original is dated 9/81 and signed. See artwork  $925

SPECIAL: Take both "Kinky Vignettes" and I'll include a free side by side, white, acid free matte cut for both of them.
